Google AdWords

Some of our Customers may have noticed that we have recently "dropped" our Google AdWords campaigns.

Let me take a few moments to explain why this has happened...

I have been in this business for a very long time (way before Google even thought about existing)... and I have seen a "lot of things come and go" over the past 20 years.

In 1996 when I converted our BBS (Bulletin Board System), that had been up for 10 years, over to an "Internet Website" the latest thing with a so called "Search Engine" was getting listed on Alta Vista.

Since then there have been a lot of "new players" come into the market and my personal favorite became "Yahoo" up until the year 2000. At that time my CIO introduced me to "Google" and I fell in love with it because I was able to "find" what I needed (at the time).

I believe that "Yahoo" lost a lot of ground when "Google" came around, and we can also add "MSN" to this picture since then.

But time changes a lot of things, and as certain companies grow, they sometimes lose the focus about what they were all about in the first place. I would certainly hope that never happens to us, but it is something that we must all consider as some companies grow into a "monster" they never intended to be!

This has happened with a lot of companies in the past, and it's not always the original founders fault, it's just that something grew faster than they could handle, expect, or plan for...

Good things that work well are always great!!! But, they also require more management which results in more people being placed into the positions of making certain decisions... and sometimes those decisions become divided between certain departments of that company which eventually leads to a reorganization or split of said company.

Of course I'm just an old idiot that has been doing this for a very long time... but I can honestly tell you that dropping our AdWords campaigns has "saved" us a lot of money each month and our sales have not declined "any"... (actually they are much better now).

It's a "well known fact" that most people "do know" the difference between the "paid ads" and the "search results" they were really looking for... duhhh... Ok, as an idiot, let me click on this one? No, it's more likely that "your competitors" are clicking on your "paid ads" and in the case of "Google", your site may not be listed in the top 10 (or 50, 100) although it's #1 on the other search engines?

I now have to dig several pages deep on Google to get past all the garbage and find the legit sites that I want (about.com, that's a good one, can you find them in the top 10 or 100 anymore?)

This is just something for you to "think about" if you are "spending money" for advertising on these so called search engines. In my case, I was "paying" for an ad to show up right above my #1 position, so I dropped that "paid ad" on Google, and now I can't be found there? Well, if I had the #1 spot to begin with, "why" would I need to "buy" a paid spot?

But "maybe" there's a "scam" going on now to "please" the new stock holders of a certain company?

These are just my own personal opinions based on my own personal experiences...

Traffic Exchanges...

Traffic Exchange Systems have become one of the most popular ways on the internet to generate and receive free traffic. These are also commonly known as Auto Surf and Manual Surf sites.
